Enter into a Dutch tradition
Every year Sinterklaas arrives from Spain by steamboat. This year Sinterklaas will attend to our community as well! He will leave us some presents on the 5th of December. Your welcome to enter into this Dutch tradition.

On the 5th of December dutch people celebrate the Vigil of St. Nicholas. This tradition is celebrated by almost everyone in the Netherlands. During the evening, we will sing songs together and all participants will receive a present. Everyone that subscribes for this evening brings a present. A poem is added to this present. You give this present to the person allocated to you. Since Sinterklaas brings these presents, you cannot reveal your allocated person. Traditionally, Fr. Michael will make pancakes.

How to subscribe?
Register strictly by Thursday 28 November. Register via maranathaevening@gmail.com
Your emailadress is needed to send the name of the person, for whom you will prepare a present and a poem. Via lootjestrekken.nl a person will be allocated to you. Please bring 5 euros for the dinner.

How does it it work?
On Friday 29th of November you receive an email with a link from Lootjestrekken.nl . Via this link a person has been allocated to you.
You will bring a packed present of 10 euro’s and you will write a (short) poem for this person.

The poem does not have to be difficult or long. A typical Dutch Sinterklaaspoem includes rhyme, something funny about the person/jokes and a message for the upcoming year. Important to know is that it is not meant to make fun of a person, rather it’s meant as a sign of friendship. You can also be creative with your poem. If you do not know the person let me know (Rémon), so that I can help you.

Do not reveal the person that has been allocated to you (the person that gets your present and poem). It’s Sinterklaas who is bringing the presents.
